Chapter 4: The Self and Interaction- ID, Ego, and Superego. page 104-105
The three interrelated parts that make up the mind.
The first part is ID and it's main goal is to achieve pleasure and avoid pain. Blade shows this when he kills vampires and his one main goal is to kill as many as possible and to get to the leader of the vampires. It brings a sense of great relief and pleasure knowing one more vampire is killed. With Ego, it deals with the real world. It operates on the basis of reason and helps mediate and integrate the demands of both ID and Superego. Blade shows this when there goes another day when he could not find his mother's killer and will continue to kill vampires until all are killed and finds his mother's killer. Superego is composed of both the conscience and the ego-ideal.This means that the superego helps suppress the urge to kill your competitor and keeps you working toward getting that raise. Blade suppresses his urge to an extent. He does not let an officials see him, such as police men or pedestrians.

Chapter 6: Deviance- Deviance, page 153

A behavior, trait, belief or other characteristic that violates a norm and causes a negative reaction.
Blade displays deviance in a number of ways. Not only does he kill vampires, but he also violates a norm in his culture. He is considered half vampire and half human. In the vampire world it is not normal to kill your own kind. As doing so, he creates negative reactions to fellow vampires and they threaten to make Blade their number one target to kill.

Chapter 8: Race and Ethnicity- Discrimination, page 222

Unequal treatment of individuals based on their membership in a social group; usually motivated by prejudice.
Blade displays discrimination by killing and hating on vampires. He shows unequal treatment to all vampires due to just one of them killing his mother. Prejudice is also with discrimination because of one vampire killing blade's mother that must mean all vampires must be killed even though they did not commit the crime.

Chapter 10:The Macro-Micro Link in Social Institutions- Authority, page 281

The legitimate, non coercive exercise of power.
Blade demonstrates authority in the movie Blade II. Fellow vampires confront Blade to help join them to kill the vampire reapers. He teaches them how to kill vampires. His authority makes them understand that he is superior to the vampires and knows that he is in charge at all times.

Chapter 12: Life at Home:Families and Relationships-Family, page 353

A social group whose members are bound by some type of tie-legal,biological,emotional,or a combination of both.
Blade does not have any biological family, but he does have family in an emotional aspect. The Whistler is considered family to blade because he helped raise him and always helps him in a time of need. They also share a history of killing vampires together.
